CONTEXTUAL LEARNING

AISF's standards based curriulum has students learning through contextual units, which are often assessed using benchmarks from more than one subject. During 2007-2008 AISF's curriculum development work will involve using assessment practices to enhance student learning retention, bringing our operational curriculum to the fore, identifying gaps and repetitions in our vertical grade articulation, and better integrate the curriculum along thematic unit lines. Integration helps us make the best use of our print and technological resources, local human expertise, and area resources. It also helps students retain their learning for longer, and lets us see students performing with knowledge in a meaningful context.
