Director's Message

Season's Greetings to all AISF parents, staff and friends. Thank you all for your support at our annual mid year musical program last Thursday. The students worked really hard to put on a great show for you. Forgot your camera at home? The AISF cam captured all the precious moments on film. Please let us know if you'd like a copy of the play (video/pictures) on CD. We appreciate all the parents who contributed to the food table on Thursday. This reception is always a great way to end the evening.

Our special guest of the evening, the US Ambassador Mrs. June Carter Perry and her representative to the school, Ms. Ola Criss have been avid supporters of the school. AISF has benefited greatly from the support of the US Embassy over the years. In addition to a sizable security grant extended to us this year, the school has received generous donations of computers, printers, furniture and most recently a generator from the Embassy. An extended thanks to all Embassy staff for all your assistance offered to the school.

This is a regular week of school and after school activities. School closes for the mid year holiday on Friday, December 19, 2008. Friday is a half day and students will be dismissed at 11:45am.

So what will your child be doing over the holidays??? I hope a good dose of reading is on the menu!! Please encourage your child to take out a few books from the library to read. Reading should be a big part of your child's daily routine.

Our annual AISF Science Fair for grades 3-7 is coming up very soon. Look out for material going home with your child regarding this. Please start to have discussions with your child about topics they could choose to explore for the science fair. Have your child research topic ideas on the internet, encyclopedias, etc, over the holidays so they will be better prepared for their upcoming project.

The PTO is ready to kick off the new year with it's first event- A movie night under the stars. Please attend the next meeting set for January 14, 2009 to give your input. We look forward to your participation and a great event for the school.

I leave you with one of my very favorite holiday poems that captures the spirit of Christmas. An enjoyable classic especially for those of you who are young at heart like me. Have a great holiday and the very best to you and your family.
