ASSESSMENT

Progress reports go home at the mid point of each quarter, and report cards at the end of the quarter. Grades reflect achievement of curricular standards. Data to measure learning growth is taken from on-going completion of tests or worksheets, from assessing performance or cooperative learning group participation, from multi-task unit projects, and so on. In unit tasks, teachers attempt to provide situations where students can best show their achievement of learning standards. Where appropriate, such as with lower-proficiency English learners, narrative reports are solely/also issued. The norm-based Iowa Tests of Basic Skills are given in May to children in 3rd- 8th grades. The ERB writing Assessment is also administered to grades 3-8th in May.
